This August, the Orchestra will perform a series of free-entry concerts ranging from Funk and Jazz to Bossa Nova.
The Algarve Jazz Orchestra is preparing to delight the public with a series of free-entry concerts this August, featuring a varied programme ranging from Funk and Jazz to Bossa Nova.
The Orchestra’s first performance is this evening, August 10, at 22h00, on the Praça da República in Tavira, where the “Funk it Out” concert will be played. With special guests such as Ana Rita Inácio on vocals and Armindo Neves on guitar, the performance will explore the fusion of Funk with Jazz, playing iconic songs by artists such as Pat Metheny, Tower of Power and Chicago.
This repertoire will be repeated on August 11 at 22h00 in the Largo da Praia do Carvoeiro and August 16 at 21h30 in the Jardim das Comunidades in Almancil.
On August 12, the Algarve Jazz Orchestra Quintet will take the stage on the Praça do Infante in Lagos at 22h00 as part of the Municipal Book Fair. This concert focused on the Herd Bop style will feature a repertoire dating from the 1960s to the present, promising an energetic and engaging performance.
Also in August, the AnimarTavira24 event will bring to the Praceta Diogo Mendonça Corte Real, in Tavira, on August 22, at 22h00, the Quintet led by saxophonist Luís Domingos Miguel. The concert will feature renowned singer Clara Buser and offer a multifaceted experience full of nuances and different musical tones.
To close the month with a flourish, the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve presents a quartet led by saxophonist Ricardo Pires at Festa do Banho 29, in Lagos, on August 29, at 20h00, at Cais da Solaria. This event, one of the municipality’s most beloved traditions, will feature the interpretation of various musical genres, from Bossa Nova to Jazz Funk, with songs by authors such as Tom Jobim, Stevie Wonder, and Grover Washington.
These free concerts are an excellent opportunity to enjoy quality music in an open-air environment celebrating the diversity and richness of jazz in different locations across the Algarve.
