The European Blue Flag Association has awarded the title of “Eco-School” to 52 schools in the Algarve.
The distinction is awarded to schools which complete a seven-step process to become more environmentally sustainable.
Lagoa was the Algarve municipality with most “Eco-Schools” (13), followed by Loulé (11), Faro and Albufeira (six each), Tavira (five), Olhão (four), Portimão (three), Lagos and Vila Real de Santo António (two each).
