Pepper’s Steakhouse in Vilamoura and The One in Carvoeiro received the highly coveted “Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator magazine.
Two of the Algarve’s fine-dining restaurants received the Wine Spectator magazine’s 2024 “Award of Excellence”. Pepper’s Steakhouse, located at the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura, won the coveted award for the first time. At the same time, The One Restaurant at the Tivoli Carvoeiro received the award for the fourth time, reaffirming its continued excellence.
The prestigious American wine magazine’s awards aim to acknowledge and distinguish restaurants featuring “wine lists offering diversity and quality recommendations, harmony between the wine selection and the menu, and the value provided”.
Excellence Award-winning restaurants offer at least 90 wine references and satisfy the most discerning wine connoisseurs.
Pepper’s Steakhouse
This is a significant milestone for Pepper’s Steakhouse as it confirms the quality of its impressive wine collection. The restaurant offers an exceptional wine-tasting experience with its “Wine Book”, through which customers can explore a wide range of Portuguese wines categorised by region, brand, grape variety, year of production, price, and awards.
The restaurant’s wine journey starts in the Algarve and covers all of Portugal’s wine regions, including the renowned Douro Valley, along with a diverse selection of global wines, sparkling wines, and champagnes.
Standing out for its vast selection of nearly 300 wine references and a stock of over 4,000 bottles, Pepper’s Steakhouse is a notable destination for wine enthusiasts. Around 120 wines, such as Port wine, Portuguese sparkling wine, champagne, white wine, and fortified wine, are stored in a marble room with a temperature carefully maintained between 7ºC and 9ºC to guarantee optimal storage conditions.
The oak-wood-built air-conditioned red wine cellar is kept between 16ºC and 18ºC, with dim lighting to preserve a humidity level of 70%. It currently houses over 180 national and international wine varieties, including some of the rarest references.
The One
The One once again received the prestigious “Award of Excellence” in 2024, adding to its previous wins in 2020, 2022, and 2023, cementing its status as a top destination for those who enjoy fine wine and cuisine. At this exclusive seafront restaurant, the priority of the wine list is to highlight Algarve region producers, endorsing premium local wines.
The restaurant’s Art Deco ambience, offering breathtaking vistas of Carvoeiro’s coastline, enhances a remarkable culinary journey that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Algarve region.
In addition to the vast range of wines that complement the menu, The One’s options feature tasting menus with wine pairings and special tastings organised with local and national producers.
