Algarve schools close as 1,500 protest in Faro

Around 1,500 teachers, parents and students demonstrated in Faro today as part of the ongoing teachers’ strike, which is now being held in a different district every day.

Protestors gathered near the municipal market as part of the demonstration organised by seven unions – ASPL, FENPROF, PRÓ-ORDEM, SPLEU, SINAPE, SINDEP, SIPE E SPLIU – on a day in which nearly all classes in the Algarve were cancelled.

Teachers are as committed to their cause as ever and are vowing that they will not give up until the Ministry of Education satisfies their demands.
