Algarve tipped for 23 national tourism ‘Oscars’

The Algarve is nominated for 23 Publituris Travel Awards, often described as the ‘Oscars’ of the national tourism sector.

The region has received three more nominations than last year and is once again in the running for the title of ‘Best National Tourism Region’, which it won last year, while many local hotels and resorts are also tipped for awards.

Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort is among the nominees for ‘Best Five-Star Hotel’ while Vila Monte Farm House is shortlisted for ‘Best Four-Star Hotel’.

Carvi Beach Hotel Lagos and Dom José Beach Hotel in Quarteira are nominated for ‘Best Three-Star Hotel’ while Cascade Wellness & Lifestyle Resort, Conrad Algarve, EPIC SANA Algarve, Monte Santo Resort, Vila Vita Parc Resort & Spa and Vilalara Thalassa Resort are all in the running for ‘Best Hotel Resort’.

Adriana Beach Club Hotel Resort, Aquashow Park Hotel, 3HB Clube Humbria and Salgados Palm Village all have a chance of being named ‘Best Family Resort Hotel’ and Bela Vista Hotel & Spa, Onyria Palmares Beach House Hotel, Suites Alba Resort & Spa and Vila Joya are vying for ‘Best Beach Hotel’.

Known as the country’s premier destination for golf, four regional golf courses are also tipped to be named ‘Best Golf Course’: Monte Rei, Onyria Palmares, Quinta do Lago North and The Old Course.

Voting is open to everyone until September 14 at http://premios.publituris.pt/travel_2018/. The winners will be announced a week later, on September 21.

Last year the region brought home five awards. While the Algarve was named ‘Best National Tourism Region’, Vila Vita Parc in Porches won ‘Best Hotel Resort’, Martinhal Sagres was considered ‘Best Beach Hotel’, Quarteira’s Dom José Beach Hotel was named ‘Best Three Star Hotel’, and Onyria Palmares in Lagos was awarded the title of ‘Best Golf Course’.
