Scores of huge colourful balloons will be taking flight in the Algarve between October 24 and 28 when the region will be hosting its first ‘Rubis Gás Up’ hot-air ballooning festival.
Organised by Windpassenger, the festival will bring around 20 hot-air balloons from all over the world to Portugal’s southernmost region.
Taking place in Portimão, Albufeira, Faro, Lagos and Alvor, the festival will allow anyone to enjoy a hot-air balloon ride over the region.
In the morning, rides will be reserved for sponsors and the media while in the afternoon they will be open to everyone.
Each ride costs €189 per person.
The locations where the balloons will set flight from will be announced soon on the event’s Facebook page (see below).
There will also be many activities taking place, such as a Night Glow light and sound show on October 26 at the Faro running track and the next day in Lagos.
Organisers warn, however, that all flights and shows are dependent on the weather and can be cancelled at the last minute.
