Starting September 6, the Guia Shopping Centre will offer a platform for up-and-coming artists to display their skills.
Guia’s AlgarveShopping is the last stop of the Openstage tour in Portugal. From this Friday, September 6, until October 27, the shopping centre will feature a stage on its ground floor that can be used independently by anyone who likes to sing or play an instrument.
“Plug in here. The stage is all yours” is the challenge that the shopping centre is launching with the Openstage initiative. Created by an Italian start-up designed for smart cities, the platform has revolutionised urban entertainment by providing emerging musical talents with an autonomous technological stage to connect their equipment – microphones or instruments – to perform their songs.
Interested parties can register free of charge via the Openstage App. After creating a profile and prior approval from the Openstage team, the artist can access the available agenda to book their show. On the chosen day and time, unlock the “totem” using the app via Bluetooth, plug in the instruments, and the show begins.
To mark this event, AlgarveShopping also selected several national artists who will perform on weekends at 16h00:
14.09 – Filipa Sousa
22.09 – João Pid
28.09 – Marco Quelhas
06.10 – João Pedro Cunha
12.10 – Zana Luz
20.10 – João Galante
27.10 – Mário Marques
“AlgarveShopping is a space of experiences where culture has a place. It is, therefore, with great enthusiasm that we see the arrival of Openstage and reinforces our support for emerging artists, providing them with a stage to showcase their musical talents, guaranteeing them a differentiating technology to showcase their skills autonomously”, says the shopping centre’s director Carla Martins.
The implementation of this project in Portugal came about through Sonae Sierra. It went on a roadshow across the country, having set up its stage at NorteShopping (Porto), MadeiraShopping (Funchal), and the Centro Vasco da Gama (Lisbon).
