Regional health authority ARS Algarve has announced that every health centre in the region will offer dentist appointments by the end of 2019.
The news was confirmed on Wednesday (September 19) after Lagoa and São Brás de Alportel joined Loulé, Lagos, Faro, Portimão and Tavira as the only boroughs in the Algarve that have dentists at their local health centres.
To schedule an appointment, patients will have to be referred to a dentist by a family doctor or another doctor within the National Health Service.
In other words, they will only be granted an appointment in cases that the GP “deems worthy of an appointment”.
