Almancil to host Iberian Festival Awards in 2025

Event will be held at Almancil’s new 25 de Abril multiuse pavilion

Almancil, granted city status in a unanimous Parliament vote last week, has been chosen to host the 2025 edition of the Iberian Festival Awards on March 15, 2025.

The event is entering its ninth year of recognising the best festivals that are held in Spain and Portugal. Every year, awards are handed out in a wide range of categories for music festivals, venues, artists, bands, entities, photographers and other key roles in festival organisation, totalling 26 categories. In most categories, a Portuguese, Spanish and Iberian winner are selected.

The award ceremony will take place at Almancil’s new 25 de Abril multiuse pavilion, with four musical performances planned, a welcome party, a lounge area, a networking area, and an after-party.

Aside from recognising the contributions and achievements of the event organisers and other stakeholders of the festival industry, the event also aims to enhance Iberian relations.

The Iberian Festival Awards have also been hosted by Lisbon and Maia (Portugal) and Barcelona, Vigo and Granada (Spain), cities which benefitted from a “significant economic impact” due to the event, Loulé municipal council says in a statement to the press.

“We are very happy to host such a prestigious event,” says Loulé councillor in charge of culture and events, Carlos Carmo, emphasising the “notoriety” it will bring to the municipality as well as the impact it will have on local hotels, restaurants and businesses. He also said the council will be directly involved in the organisation of the event and that it will strive to put on a top-level show.

Ricardo Bramão, president of the Portuguese Association of Music Festivals (Aporfest), has also celebrated the decision to host the event in Almancil.

“After theatres, congress centres and emblematic venues in the cities of Lisbon, Maia, Barcelona, Vigo and Granada, now it is the time for the Iberian festival sector to gather at this new infrastructure and kick-off the 2025 season. We will make this a memorable edition,” he said.
