Almost 400 arrested over festive holidays

Almost 400 people were arrested in the last six days by PSP police – most of them on Portuguese roads, the police announced today. As part of the ‘Safe Holidays 2024/2025’ operation during the New Year phase, which ran from December 27 to January 1, the PSP made 381 arrests, 197 of which were related to road crimes (127 for drink-driving and 70 for not being legally qualified to drive). During the operation, 9,326 vehicles were inspected and almost 40,000 were subject to speed cameras – with “2,241 road traffic offences detected”.
