Sixty-eight Portuguese footwear and leather goods companies are taking part today in Milan, Italy, in the MICAM, MIPEL and Lineapelle international fairs, with the aim of reversing the 5.1% drop in exports in 2023. “This will be an important year for our business,” says Luís Onofre, president of the Portuguese Footwear, Components, Leather Goods and Related Products Manufacturers’ Association (APICCAPS), which is organising Portuguese participation in the three fairs. “Our sector exports more than 90% of its production and, after a very difficult 2023 for the entire fashion sector on an international scale, we expect this to be a year of affirmation for Portuguese footwear in foreign markets,” he said.
