For parents of children in the Portuguese State system, Friday is fast becoming synonymous with strike action (meaning children have another day ‘at home’). This Friday promises to be no exception. This time round it is a strike called by S.T.O.P (the syndicate of all professionals in education, including janitors). S.T.O.P wants a salary increase for all professionals of €120, and inclusion in the State’s pension access (Caixa geral de Aposentações).
