António Costa’s outgoing executive releases “transition portfolio”

Dossier outlines “most relevant projects under development”

The outgoing government of António Costa today released a “transition portfolio” for the next government with the “most relevant projects under development” in various areas, such as housing, the airport and public services, writes Lusa.

Reporting on the extraordinary Council of Ministers which started earlier this morning, the State news agency published a photograph (above) that appears to perfectly encapsulate the ‘mood’ of the outgoing executive.

Its 50-page document was released after the start of the meeting, and was divided into 24 themes: the new airport, housing, railroads, schools, young people, higher education, energy, firefighting, water, European funds, public administration, public services, teachers, health equipment, social equipment, science, urban mobility, roads, heritage recovery, media, digitalisation, justice equipment, security forces equipment and military equipment.

On the subject of digitalisation, Correio da Manhã carried a report over the weekend (see text to come) on a petition raised by parents and teachers AGAINST expanding a pilot-project aimed at moving pupils from printed text books to ‘digital learning’. The movement “Less screens more life” argues that the project has been a disaster, not simply negatively affecting the quality of children’s learning but “presenting the risk of access to unsuitable content, like pornography and violence”.
