Are Harry and Meghan buying a house in Portugal?

British tabloid The Daily Mail has reported the pair are purchasing a house in the Comporta region.

According to the Daily Mail, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are buying a house in Portugal to acquire Golden Visas, which would grant them free access to the Schengen area in the European Union.

However, currently, golden visas are no longer available via real estate transactions, only via other investments such as private equity funds. Therefore, this possible purchase could just be a desire to have a holiday closer to home for Harry and a new jet set playground for Meghan.

If this property acquisition is verified, it could mean that Harry and Meghan will spend more time in Europe following their relocation to the United States and eviction from Frogmore Cottage, their residence in Windsor, England.

Although the publication did not reveal the location of the new house, everything points to Comporta. Last year, the couple visited Eugenie, Harry’s cousin, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, who live in the area. Brooksbank, the marketing and sales executive for CostaTerra, works with Mike Meldman, a real estate billionaire who is also one of George Clooney’s business partners.

Eugenie and Jack live at CostaTerra Golf & Ocean Club in Melides with their sons August and Ernest. The estate, owned by the North American Discovery Land Company, covers around 200 hectares and currently charges a minimum of €3.4 million for a plot.

The project foresees the construction of 292 new homes, a golf course designed by Tom Fazio, and common areas created by renowned New York designer Alexandra Champalimaud, who is responsible for decorating the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, The Pierre and the Carlyle, both in New York.
