Thirteen local restaurants are participating
This weekend marks the return of the ‘Festival da Caldeirada e do Mar’ to Armação de Pêra, an event which shines the spotlight on Portugal’s traditional ‘caldeirada’ stews, which are usually made with fish and seafood.
The event will take place between Friday, May 24 and Sunday, May 26 at 13 local restaurants, including Marisqueira Hera, Churrasqueira Balbino, Restaurante O Silvense, Restaurante A Grelha, Restaurante Praia com Tempero, Restaurante Estrela do Mar, Restaurante O Walter, Restaurante O Pelintra, Churrasqueira O Casarão, Bistro 1956, Restaurante Olivalmar, Papa Restaurante and Restaurante Tasca’Lado.
There will also be live music and entertainment by Diogo Duro and Anabela Mira at the participating restaurants during the event.
Meanwhile, anyone who orders one of the dishes from the festival’s special menu will be eligible to win prizes, including free tickets to some of Silves’ most popular events such as the Medieval Fair and Sunset Secrets. Each client will receive a coupon which must be filled out, annexed to the receipt and delivered to the restaurant. The prize draw will take place on June 6 at the Silves town hall and the winners will be announced on the local council’s social media pages.
The festival will also feature a photography competition, which is open to everyone. To participate, photographers need only post a photo, identify the ‘Município de Silves’ and like the council’s page, and include the caption ‘Vou ao Festival da Caldeirada e do Mar’ (I am going to the Caldeirada and Sea Festival’). The winner will be announced on June 7.
Last but not least, a concert entitled ‘Abril em Branco’ (April in White) performed by Mitó, Luca Argel, Filipe Valentim, Luís Bastos and the Naked Lunch Quartet will take place on Friday, May 24 at 9.30pm near the mini-golf course.
