“Liquid Vibes” exhibition features works by Vilma Vicente and Dana Georgescu
“Liquid Vibes” exhibition, featuring works by contemporary artists Vilma Vicente and Dana Georgescu, will be opening this Friday, January 18, at Casa Real Compromisso Marítimo de Ferragudo.
Through painting, design, and sculptural pieces, this thought-provoking exhibition explores water as both a physical and symbolic element, highlighting themes of transformation, fluidity, and the interconnectedness of life and nature.
“Liquid Vibes” draws inspiration from the concept of life as a fluid, ever-changing process. The exhibition invites viewers to engage deeply with the natural world through the lens of art, offering a multi-sensory experience that connects the elements of water to the broader narrative of humanity’s relationship with nature.
About the artists
Vilma Vicente and Dana Georgescu bring their unique perspectives and artistic approaches to the exhibition, creating a dynamic and harmonious dialogue between their works.
A Lisbon-born artist now living in the Algarve, Vilma Vicente has always shared a profound connection with the ocean. Her passion for free-diving and surfing has heavily influenced her artistic expression, allowing her to capture the fluidity and majesty of the sea.
After graduating from Lisbon University of Fine Arts, Vilma’s artistic journey flourished in the Algarve, where she embraced mixed media techniques and fluid art to bring her vision to life. “I love to explore different mediums and techniques, and fluid art is one of my favourites. It resonates with my spontaneous and sensory nature, allowing me to dive into a world of colours and forms, making every piece a unique reflection of my inner world,” says Vilma Vicente.
Born by the sea, Dana Georgescu’s connection with water began in childhood and has continued throughout her life. Having spent nearly a decade travelling the world’s oceans while working on cruise liners, Dana found her artistic home on the Portuguese coast. Her works, often created using recycled shells and natural materials, reflect her dedication to sustainable and organic art.
Dana’s art is a deeply personal journey that combines her life experiences, memories, and passion for educating others about the importance of environmental conservation. “Every shell laid on my canvas is a reminder of how fragile the Earth is and how destructive humanity’s actions can be. My goal is to inspire others to reconnect with nature and make more sustainable choices,” says Dana Georgescu.
When: Opening reception, January 18, from 3pm to 6pm. The exhibition runs until February 1, 2025.
Venue opening hours: Saturday and Sunday: 10.30am to 6pm | Monday to Friday: 10.30am to 3pm.
