Asian hornets attack police

The horrible job of dealing with a very decomposed body by the roadside turned into a nightmare for four police agents in Monsanto, Lisbon, earlier this week when they were attacked by a swarm of Asian hornets, requiring hospital treatment. The agents had to leave the body where it lay as they themselves were taken by ambulance to São Francisco Xavier hospital. PJ police were then called to investigate the scene, once it had been chemically dealt with by council officials in hazmat gear. The body (described by Correio da Manhã as “already a skeleton”) was removed and will now be the subject of an autopsy.
