Association blasts government for failing to take up vital cancer screening

Pulmonale – the Portuguese association for the fight against lung cancer – has said it is “unacceptable” that the government did not take advantage of a European funding line that would have allowed lung cancer screenings to go ahead last year. Instead “nothing has been done (…). Screening has once again been postponed to the detriment of all Portuguese people,” said Pulmonale president Isabel Magalhães today, recalling that lung cancer “continues to be the oncological disease with the highest associated mortality”.
