Supermarket chain AUCHAN is in touch with its supplier of tuna paté after the brand, Petit Navire, was identified in a report by two NGOs as containing ‘toxic levels of mercury’ in its tins of tuna. AUCHAN assures that if the paté does not conform to European food safety standards, it will be taking “due precautions”. NGOs Bloom and Foodwatch however have described the situation as “a health scandal on an unprecedented scale”.
