Portugal’s premier car plant ‘AutoEuropa’ in Palmela has been forced to leave a consortium bidding for PRR funding because it paints its VW T-Roc’s with a technique using natural gas. The consortium, running a project called “Factory of the Future”, could not incorporate Autoeuropa on these terms, even though the company has a programme of investments to allow it to reduce carbon emissions by 2027.
