Flights operating in and out of Faro airport
SATA (Azores Airlines) will extend its offer of direct flights between Ponta Delgada (Azores) and Montreal (Canada), Faro and Milan (Italy) to the entire IATA winter period.
According to the Azorean airline today, these three flights began in April (Montreal) and June (Milan and Faro) and will also be operated between October 27 and March 29.
In a press release, SATA explains that the extension to the whole year “allows Azores Airlines to consolidate its presence in markets with great growth potential”, offers travellers the chance to get to know the Azores “outside the high season”, and helps “mitigate the destination’s seasonality.
“At the same time, these Azores Airlines connections have established themselves, year after year, as convenient options for those wishing to travel between Europe and North America with a stopover in the Azores. This complementarity offered by the connectivity of the routes makes it possible to increase the potential of point-to-point flights and stabilise tourist demand throughout the year”.
From October 27, flights between Montreal and Ponta Delgada will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Saturdays.
Direct flights between Faro and Ponta Delgada are on Thursdays and Sundays, and flights between Ponta Delgada and Milan are on Mondays every week.
SATA also explains that these routes were promoted to tour operators and local agents throughout the summer, in partnership with local operators and through familiarisation visits to the Azores destination, which brought “travel agents, specialised journalists and digital influencers from these source markets” to the Azorean archipelago.
The IATA winter programme – including the new flights now announced – is already available on the booking systems and trips can be purchased at the airline’s points of sale or through travel agencies.
