Bad weather warnings back on Friday 

Warnings cover mainland and archipelagos

Several Portuguese mainland districts and the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores will once again be under a yellow warning on Friday and Saturday due to heavy rain and rough seas.

The national meteorological institute (IPMA) has placed the districts of Porto, Aveiro, Viana do Castelo and Braga under a yellow warning between 6pm tomorrow and midnight on Saturday, due to rain.

IPMA has also issued a yellow warning for the districts of Lisbon and Leiria due to rough seas until 12pm today – and again between 6pm on Friday and 6pm on Saturday.

Rough sea warnings will also be in place for the districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Faro (meaning the length of the Algarve), Setúbal, Beja, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga from 6pm on Friday to 6pm on Saturday,

The forecast predicts north-westerly waves of four to five metres, writes Lusa.

The north coasts of the island of Madeira and Porto Santo are also under a yellow warning for rough seas until 3pm today, with west/north-west waves of four to five metres forecast, while the western group of islands in the Azores (Flores and Corvo) have their yellow warning between 6pm today (7pm in Lisbon) and midnight on Friday (1am in Lisbon).
