120 kilos of much-needed items and “some treats”
The Albufeira Food Bank received a much-needed donation in December thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Balaia Bowls Club and their regular guests.
This year, the local food bank asked specifically for personal hygiene items for the adults and children on their books. Using some of the €810 of funds raised during the year, Brian and Pauline from the club filled their car with 120 kilos’ weight in necessities that the food bank specifically asked for.
“The Albufeira Food Bank cannot help in the way they do without charitable donations such as ours,” said the Balaia Bowls Club, thanking all club members and others who have contributed in some way.
“There was enough money left over to buy a fresh chicken and a bottle of wine per family. The Food Bank said that rarely do they get fresh meat and that the wine would be a nice treat.”
