Baleeira fishing port has new floating dock

The fishing port of Baleeira in Sagres now has a functional floating dock.

National fishing port authority Docapesca has invested nearly €113,000 in the project which aims to “improve the safety conditions for people and goods using the dock and make it easier for fishing boats to moor at the port”.

The new structure is made up of two concrete floating platforms which are 20 metres long and four metres wide, equipped with horizontal and vertical fenders (bumpers used to absorb the kinetic energy of berthing vessels), emergency ladders, a cabinet for first-aid and a metallic mooring system.

The floating dock can be accessed by land via a 20-metre long and 1.5-metre wide bridge.
