Portugal’s Banco Alimentar Contra Fome – the social solidarity institution that feeds people in financial difficulties – will be conducting a new campaign at the country’s largest supermarket outlets this weekend, this time entitled “Hope”. With inflation and rising interest rates affecting almost every family, the focus is on those who can spare something giving it to the roughly 400,000 who cannot manage to put the food they need on the table. Beyond the weekend food drive, there will be collections continuing through a voucher system available at supermarkets until May 14.
