Be an ‘angel’ this Christmas

Algarve children’s charity ACCA is again asking for members of the community to buy a Christmas gift for a needy child through its ‘Angel’ programme.

ACCA has a Christmas wish-list from more than 1,200 underprivileged children in the Algarve who live in orphanages or below the poverty line.

Volunteer Jackie Quirk said: “These children are truly grateful and their wishes are not very large. This could be the only gift they get this Christmas.

“Each year, we ask more than 1,400 children what they would like to receive from Santa and then ask people to sponsor the child by buying them a gift, which we will deliver in time for Christmas.”

ACCA is also selling Christmas cards designed by ACCA kids. They are priced at five cards for €2.50 and 12 cards for €5, and all proceeds go to the charity. These will be available at the Four Seasons Country Club Christmas Fair (November 23) and Quinta Shopping Christmas Fair (November 30), or contact one of the ACCA team.
