The facilities of the Food Bank Against Hunger (BACF) in Beja were raided overnight, with 600 litres of olive oil being stolen, worth an estimated €5000. Speaking to Lusa, José Tadeu Freitas in charge of the facility said the institution was now left “without olive oil to deliver to the approximately 4000 people who receive support every month (…) Thefts are always bad, no matter who it is, but for us this is even worse, because it means stealing food from people who need it,” he said.
