“Best edition ever” of Lagoa Wine Show

Wine Show sets new records

This year’s edition of the Lagoa Wine Show was the “best ever,” with a record number of visitors and nearly 4,000 glasses of wine sold.

The municipal council of Lagoa says an “unprecedented number” of winemakers took part, with “thousands of wine lovers” visiting Lagoa to discover what they had to offer.

The event “surpassed all expectations,” the council says, adding that its record numbers show the “growing interest and enthusiasm of the public in the world of wine.

For the first time, wine tastings and lectures were held inside the São José convent, providing an “enriching and education experience for all participants,” the organisers say, adding that they gave visitors a “unique opportunity to learn directly wine specialists and discover new and exciting wines.”

More than 20 winemakers took part in the Lagoa Wine Show, contributing to a record number of sales.

This was, without a doubt, the edition with the highest volume of sales, showcasing the growing importance of the Lagoa Wine Show as a platform for national winemakers to promote and sell (their wines),” the local council says.

There was also the usual street entertainment, with highlight performances by Portuguese Fado singer Cuca Roseta, Cape Verdean singer Cremilda Medina and Angolan singer Bonga. Distinguished chefs such as Chakall were also in attendance to lead a series of showcooking events.

I am extremely proud of the success of the 2024 Lagoa Wine Show. This event reflects the hard work and dedication of everyone involved, from winemakers to the artists who gifted us with their performances and the employees of the local council,” said Lagoa mayor Luís Encarnação.

As he put it, the Lagoa Wine Show is “not just a wine show”, it is also a “celebration of our culture and tradition.”
