The month of May was a busy one for Algarve hotels and tourist establishments, with 74.5% of their rooms booked – a 3.9 percentage point year-on-year increase and the highest percentage since 2001.
The data was revealed by the Algarve hotelier association (AHETA), which reported increases in the number of Dutch and Irish (+1.5pp) holidaymakers followed by German tourists (+0.8pp).
