Event has established itself as “one of the best in the country”
Organisers are celebrating the “best edition ever” of Carvoeiro’s Black&White Night, which attracted a record 40,000 people last Saturday (June 15).
“Ten years after its first edition, Carvoeiro Black&White has established itself as one of the best events in the country which nobody wants to miss,” the municipal council, which organises the event, says in a statement.
It adds that the event has a “strong economic impact” on the borough as it attracts visitors from all over the world. “Some people plan their holidays a year in advance just to ensure they can attend this unmissable event,” the council says.
With seven stages set up along the town’s main streets, Black&White featured a wide variety of entertainment, from “Arabic Chillout & Sufi Dance, harp performances, African tribal music, Brazilian popular music, classical music, and a sunset experience, to magic shows, a silent party, music from the 70s and 80s, and dance music.”
“Everything was meticulously prepared, and several new features were introduced to enhance the visitors’ experience, such as an Information Booth on site, the sale of official event cups, and increased transportation options to facilitate access to the venue and ensure a safe return home,” the council adds.
Organising an event of this magnitude poses a “big challenge” to the council, which has thanked everyone involved for their contribution to the Black&White’s success.
“I want to thank all the municipal employees from several departments who once again made Carvoeiro Black&White a tremendous success. Without everyone’s dedication, none of this would be possible. I also want to thank all the authorities who collaborated with the Municipality, as well as the thousands of visitors who accepted the invitation to participate in another edition of Carvoeiro Black&White. Thank you all very much,” said Luís Encarnação, Mayor of Lagoa.
