The body of an as yet unidentified woman was found yesterday morning (Sunday) floating in the Lis river, close to a bridge in the town of Leiria.
A passer-by ‘noticed’ the body “a little before 11am”, say reports, and notified authorities which promptly set up a security perimetre due to the number of people that started to congregate.
It’s not clear how the woman died. She was described as aged between 50-60.
Her body has been transported to the local institute of legal medicine for autopsy, as PJ police are now investigating.
