Faro 1540, an association that works to protect and promote the city’s environmental and cultural heritage, is organising the initiative “Estamos na Baixa!”, which aims to find solutions for the free commercial spaces and encourage the opening of new shops in downtown Faro.
With benefits including flexible leases and controlled costs (€200-350 a month), the initiative is open to all Portuguese and foreign citizens. Candidates must register (free) by January 25, 2013, with the selection process taking place thereafter. The form is available at:
