Both Left and Right lambast messaging from PS party congress

Parties on both the Left (Bloco de Esquerda/ PCP communists) and Right (PSD/ IL/ CDS) have been reacting to the messaging emerging from the PS party congress this weekend, stressing the bottom line is that the party means to continue as it has been in absolute majority. The Left – keenly critical of absolute majorities – believes it is time for a ‘break with politics of the status quo’, as do the various parties of the Right, which seem to concur that Socialists are living in a country that “doesn’t exist”. The differences between the two factions are that the Left, in spite of its criticism of PS Socialists, has shown it is prepared to enter into agreements with them to prevent a Right-wing government ‘winning’ the March 10 elections.
