British man missing after disappearing from Faro Hospital

UPDATE: Stuart Ellis has been found at his home and is safe, his family confirmed to the Resident.

A 65-year-old British man is missing after disappearing from Faro Hospital this Thursday morning (February 13).

Stuart Ellis was last seen asking to use the restroom at the hospital at around 6.15am. His wife, Viv Ellis, says he had been hospitalised for nine weeks after “banging his head in a bad fall” in December.

While he spent weeks in the intensive care unit battling a brain haemorrhage, his condition had been improving. However, a recent bout of dehydration left him in intermediate care on the eighth floor of the hospital.

“He was very confused and just wanted to come home,” his wife told the Resident.

Police have been informed of his disappearance.

Stuart Ellis was last seen wearing a green t-shirt. He is believed to be barefoot and does not have money or a phone. He lives at Sunshine Motorhome Park, near Gorjões, north of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, which has been informed of his disappearance. “If he’s confused, he might try to get to Olhão Camping, where he used to live before,” his friends and family say.

If you have seen or found Stuart Ellis, contact his wife Viv Ellis (+351 926 083 270) or police (PSP – 289 078 100 / 289 078 101 or GNR – 289 887 600).
