Parliament this afternoon begins the first of two sessions of debate on the proposed 2025 State Budget – a document President Marcelo has said must be approved, or he will be forced to call new elections. After weeks of tension and a great deal of political posturing, the ‘survival’ of the budget looks likely as PS Socialists have announced their intention to ‘abstain’ from final voting at the end of November. These two sessions of debate open the way to ‘appreciation in especially’ of the document, which takes place in committees through the next few weeks.
