Carob producers in Paderne are concerned about carob thieves. They report that these thefts have increased nearly 50% and affected around 30 carob producers between June and October 2019.
Miguel Coelho, president of the local parish council, estimates that the thefts have already cost producers around €20,000.
Albufeira council plans to call on the government to increase GNR surveillance in the area.
