Carvoeiro Clube Group awarded “Save Water” Seal

Certification recognises hotel group’s water-saving efforts

Carvoeiro Clube Group has reaffirmed its “commitment to environmental leadership” by recently receiving the ‘Save Water’ Seal from Turismo de Portugal (national tourism board).

The certification highlights the hotel group’s “dedicated responsibility to protecting the environment and implementing sustainable practices” aimed at reducing its ecological footprint.

With a portfolio that includes more than 500 accommodation properties, townhouses, and apartments in tourist resorts such as Quinta do Algarvio Village, Vale de Milho Village, both in Carvoeiro, and the Vivenda Miranda boutique hotel on the cliffs of Porto de Mós in Lagos, among others, Carvoeiro Clube Group is “fully aware of the environmental impact of its operations”.

However, the group says, it has taken a proactive stance, adopting “significant measures to mitigate this impact and contribute to protecting the planet for future generations”.

In response to the alarming water shortage in the Algarve region, Carvoeiro Clube Group has intensified its efforts to reduce water consumption. Answering the Algarve’s collective call for action, the group has implemented “a new set of even more effective procedures across its properties”.

“These efforts resulted in the award of the ‘Save Water’ Seal, a measure coordinated by the Algarve Tourism Board, in conjunction with Turismo de Portugal and ADENE – Agência para a Energia, in recognition of its exemplary water management practices,” said the group.

In addition to smaller-scale initiatives already adopted, other structural initiatives have been implemented and improved over the last few months. These include “a drastic reduction of lawns and plants with medium to high water consumption, a greater increase in native plants, the use of sea water to fill swimming pools, and water treatment for irrigation, among others”.

Carvoeiro Clube Group’s success in reducing water consumption is a clear testament to its dedication to sustainability.

“We have long realised the importance of sustainability and have started to implement measures over the years,” said Paulo de Carvalho, the group’s Operations Director.

“Our recent efforts in water conservation have allowed us to reduce our overall water consumption by more than 30% this year. We remain committed to these practices and aim to set a benchmark for responsible water management in the region.”

As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental conservation, Carvoeiro Clube Group “remains determined to follow sustainable practices that contribute to a greener future, not only in Carvoeiro but in all areas where it operates”.
