INDULGE YOUR senses in a Moroccan themed atmosphere at the Medina bar and restaurant. Open since January, the Medina is now going through its first summer test.
“The response has been great and people seem to enjoy our different proposals”, said Phil Gill, the owner of the bar and restaurant in Praia do Carvoeiro (Lagoa). The menu list is very eclectic and the chef presents different dishes from very diverse origins. Yugoslavian Chevapchichi, a meat dish, is one of the top selling items on the menu. However, Bife Medina, a specialty with steak, Filetes de Linguado, a fish dish, and the Travessa Medina, a platter with eight different dishes are also very popular.
Kids area
The themed restaurant area, with beautiful decorative elements from Morocco, like lamps and mirrors, also provides a space for children. While parents are dining, the children can play among coloured pillows and watch movies in a special, and very inviting, space. Music is always playing, with a mix from quiet to dancing styles, depending on which room you are in.
During the day you can relax in the bougainvillea covered courtyard or on the terrace. In the upstairs area, visitors can try a range of cocktails, only possible to find at Medina.
The restaurant opens at 6pm, although you can have light lunches from noon, at very reasonable prices. Pre-ordering for a special dish is also a possibility. “Whenever clients ask, we try to respond, as long as they call us previously to pre-order,” said Phil Gill.
Phil Gill moved from England to the Algarve last July, although he visited the country frequently during the previous 18 years. “Carvoeiro was love at first sight. We just fell in love with this village,” he said.
Medina Restaurant and Bar opens daily from 10am to 2am, is located at Rua do Barranco, in Carvoeiro, and can be contacted on telephone number 282 085 740.
