Casa de Mondo hosts Sunshine Soiree Charity Fundraiser

In aid of two local charities “making the Algarve a safer place to live”

Casa de Mondo, a charming bed and breakfast in Boliqueime, will host a Sunshine Soiree Charity Fundraiser on Wednesday, July 10 in aid of two “vital local charities”: Associação Alerta de Incêndio Florestal and Tiny Shelter.

The event will take place from 7pm to 10pm, offering guests “an evening of culinary delights, fine wines, and lively entertainment”.

The programme features wine tasting of “exquisite Algarvean wines” with Farming Futures, “delectable street food” from Las Chicas del Sabor and The Farm House Project, and music and drinks provided by Portugal Rocks. For those with a sweet tooth, Jorm will be serving up “delightful treats”.

One of the evening’s highlights will be a raffle with a “diverse range of incredible prizes”. Raffle tickets can be purchased with cash donations on the day, with all proceeds going to the two charities.

The fundraiser is being organised by the owners of Casa de Mondo who will be featured on Channel 4’s ‘A New Life in the Sun’ TV series, which “follows intrepid expats as they chase a dream life in the sun and set up new businesses abroad.”

“Our reason for hosting our first Charity Fundraiser is down to the fact that we have been chosen for ‘A New Life in the Sun’, and we felt it would be an ideal opportunity to raise awareness and money for Associação Alerta de Incêndio Florestal and Tiny Shelter, two charities that we personally feel make the Algarve a safer place to live,” said Casa de Mondo co-owner Harriet Pena.

The event is also being sponsored by Blacktower Financial Management Group.

“Supporting the Sunshine Soiree Charity Fundraiser at Casa de Mondo is a fantastic opportunity for us to give back to the community. We’re excited to help raise funds and awareness for Associação Alerta de Incêndio Florestal and Associação Tiny Shelter. This event is a great way to come together and make a real difference, and we’re thrilled to be part of it,” said John Westwood, Group Chairman of Blacktower Financial Management.

Manuela Robinson, Associate Director at Blacktower Financial Management in Portugal, added: “The Sunshine Soiree Charity Fundraiser is a wonderful initiative that we’re proud to sponsor. It’s all about community and working together to support Associação Alerta de Incêndio Florestal and Associação Tiny Shelter. I’m looking forward to a fantastic evening where we can all contribute to these important causes and have a great time doing it.”

Associação Alerta de Incêndio Florestal is a non-profit organisation which “plays a crucial role” in supporting Portugal’s Bombeiros (firefighters) by providing timely information about forest fires, aiding both the community and emergency services during these critical events.

Meanwhile, Tiny Shelter is a small animal shelter based near Albufeira which has been “a beacon of hope for countless animals in need. For decades, Isabel Searle and her dedicated volunteers have advocated for sustainable animal welfare through care, neutering, rehoming, fostering, and handling medical emergencies. Their tireless efforts have significantly improved the lives of many animals across Portugal,” the organisers point out.

Tickets for the Sunshine Soiree Charity Fundraiser cost €35 per person, with €10 going to Associação Alerta de IncÊndio Florestal and €5 going to Tiny Shelter. Send an email to algarvesunshinesoiree@gmail.com for further information or to book tickets.
