Castro Marim uses tree injection method to prevent pests

Castro Marim is using endotherapy to protect trees from pests

The municipal council of Castro Marim started in July using a new eco-friendly method to protect trees in urban areas from pests.

Instead of the traditional method of spraying chemicals on the trees, municipal services are injecting treatments directly into the tree trunks using a method known as tree injection or endotherapy.

Says the local council, “this environmentally-friendly procedure replaces the widespread spraying of tree canopies and will continue throughout August for species identified by municipal services in the towns of Castro Marim and Altura.”
