Tavira is home to a growing English-speaking community of Roman Catholics
On Christmas Day, December 25, there will be a Catholic Mass in English at 10.30am at the Igreja de Santiago in Tavira, East Algarve. Music and singing will be included.
This is currently the only English-speaking Catholic Christmas Day service in the East Algarve – a unique opportunity for anglophone residents or tourists who wish to celebrate Mass in their own language on this special day.
The parish of Tavira is home to a growing English-speaking community of Roman Catholics from all over the world, including North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and continental Europe.
English Masses are celebrated every Sunday at 10.30am (in addition to other holy days such as Christmas Day), with an average of 50 people attending each week.
The community extends a warm welcome to everyone this Christmas, including those who are not Catholic or Christian.

UPDATE: There will be an additional English Mass on New Year’s Day (January 1) at 10.30am for the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.
