Avenida da Liberdade – one of Lisbon’s main thoroughfares – will be closed to traffic from 6pm tomorrow due to the ‘Santos Populares’ parade. There will also be restrictions in the morning in the area of the Sé cathedral and downtown Baixa area, PSP police have announced in a statement. The statement explains that several sub-units will be present at festivities to guarantee ‘all security conditions’: “Policing will be made up of various units, namely visibility, intervention, traffic, inspection, investigation and public order, including the Special Police Unit”.
