CHEGA MP deeply regrets drink driving

Bad luck can often come in ‘threes’ and this has certainly been the case for right wing party CHEGA recently: following on from the MP suspected of stealing other people’s luggage, the councillor suspected of the aggravated prostitution of a minor, there is now a regional MP in the Azores who has been caught driving with a blood alcohol level of 2.25g/l. This is so far over the legal limit that the head literally is left spinning. José Paulo Sousa has written of his “deep regret” over Facebook. The “serious mistake” happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, on the island of Flores. As reports have explained: “When the blood alcohol level is equal to or greater than 1.2 grams, it is a criminal offence punishable by a prison sentence of up to one year, a fine of up to 120 days, and a driving ban of between three and 36 months, with a reduction of six points on the licence”.
