IF YOU would like to visit the US but you aren’t sure where to go, a new survey called America’s Favourite Cities has been conducted on which American destinations are the best for various activities.
Headline News network, Travel and Leisure magazine and CNN spent three months collecting 60,000 votes from local residents and visitors on what they like (and don’t like) about 25 urban destinations across the country.
Voters were asked for their opinions on culture, shopping, people, food and city characteristics. Some winners were predictable: The best cities for coffee are Seattle and Washington, best high-end boutiques were in New York and Southern cities top the list for friendliest citizens.
America’s nightlife capital, New Orleans, or the Big Easy, rated highest for live music, cocktails, and cheap eats. Finally, if you’re on the look out for a romance, the heart of Texas has the best singles scene but the shopping here is rated as sub par. Below are some of the other categories and you can see the results in detail at www.travelandleisure.com/afc
