From four corners of the globe, five young, energetic brass musicians have come together to form the Eigelstein Brass Quintet. They will now be performing at the Mascarenhas Gregório Theatre in Silves on Sunday, September 18.
The varied musical offerings are expected to reflect the quintet’s true dedication to music. The programme includes Bach, Mahler, Gabrielli, Jim Parker, Malcolm Arnold, Michael Kamen, Farnaby, Lutoslawski, Nelson, Brubeck and Irving Berlin. For all music mavins, a rendition of Londonderry Air will end the concert.
The concert will also be an opportunity to raise funds for charities supported by the Silves Rotary Club. President of Silves Rotary, David Trubshaw, commented that the club is delighted that this year the sponsor for this concert is Blevins Franks International Tax and Wealth Management.
“As well as this sponsorship, the event has been made possible thanks to the support of the Goethe Institute and the Municipality of Silves for the theatre and its staff. So much Rotary work involves close co-operation; this is a perfect example of teamwork. The event may well be a sell-out, so we urge readers to reserve their tickets now.”
The annual charity concert is organised by the Rotary Club Silves, with doors to the theatre opening at 4pm for the performance at 4.30pm.
Tickets cost €15 and there will be an interval for drinks and nibbles.
