Climate activist who threw green paint on PM risks hefty claim for compensation

A 19-year-old climate activist who threw green paint over the prime minister earlier this year (to be fair, before Luís Montenegro had won the elections) risks a hefty fine beyond whatever penalty the court may decide for him. The reason is that the prime minister is said to be claiming almost €2,000 for the damages caused to his suit, while photographer Isabel Santiago, is asking for €450 for the damages to her outfit, as well. Young Vicente Fernandes meantime has given the impression that he is not in the least repentant for what he did, as he believes the climate crisis is much more relevant than paint-spattered clothes. This was an incident in the ‘hey day’ of climate protests, before those taking part started receiving judicial penalties
