Farmers win BP payout
An out-of-court settlement has been agreed between oil company BP and a group of Colombian farmers, over a pipeline built in the 90s. The farmers had been demanding 28 million US dollars in compensation for the threat to their livelihoods and health due to the Ocensa pipeline. They were also threatened by paramilitaries for opposing the project. The payout value has not been revealed.
