In the wake of the tragic collapse of the Morandi Bridge in Genoa, Italy, which killed at least 43 people last week, Portugal’s Communist Party (PCP) has demanded access to documents on the maintenance of the 25 de Abril and Vasco da Gama bridges in Lisbon, national highways and railways.
Several news reports have questioned the state of the 25 de Abril bridge and the Duarte Pacheco viaduct in Lisbon which, according to the party, “shouldn’t be ignored”.
