The countdown has started for the third ‘Moving to Portugal’ seminar, to be held on Monday, October 23 at the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel in central London.
The ‘Moving to Portugal’ seminars are designed to “answer all the questions you may have about how to organise your move to Portugal, whether you intend to run your business in the country, retire there or simply spend several months a year there to escape the English climate”.
Organised by the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK, last May’s seminar at the Lord’s Cricket Ground attracted close to 500 registered people who were keen to learn about moving to Portugal.
Speakers at the seminars include representatives from the worlds of finance, real estate, legal and insurance.
They focus on some of the practical aspects UK nationals should consider, such as “where to move to, what to be aware of when buying property, how the ‘non-habitual residence’ rules work, how taxation works, what the implications of Brexit are and how to act when the pound improves against the euro”.
Doors will open at 11am and close at 9pm.
The first seminar begins at 11.30am and will last approximately two hours, with a coffee break in the middle. The seminar will then be repeated at 3pm and 6.30pm, to allow visitors to come in the afternoon and after work.
The seminars are free to attend but due to their popularity, it is necessary to reserve your place in advance.
Within each seminar there will be eight short presentations from specialists on many subjects, including the legal aspects of buying a property in Portugal, the range of properties for sale in the Algarve and the areas around Lisbon and Porto, and how to plan your tax and financial affairs in advance of the move.
They will also explain how to structure mortgage finance, how Portugal’s non-habitual residence (NHR) programme works, all aspects of healthcare and later living in Portugal and managing your currency risk.
Staff from all the companies presenting at the seminars will be on hand throughout the day on their stands to answer your questions and talk in private with you.
