Court bars mother from visiting ‘shaken baby’ in hospital

Little Santiago – the four-month-old baby admitted to hospital with injuries compensurate with having been violently shaken – is showing ‘some signs of improvement’. Chaves magistrates however have issued an order to bar his mother from visiting him any further in hospital. The 19-year-old is suspected of having been complicit in the injuries sustained by her son. Santiago meantime has been transferred from Porto’s São João Hospital back to Chaves, where he will continue to receive medical assistance.
